Origamies LLC ("Origamis," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Origamis mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly and information generated through your use of the app:

• Account Information: When you create an account using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we collect your name and email address. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Apple provides a private relay address instead — we never see your real email in that case.
• Contacts: With your explicit permission, we access your device's contact list to help identify friends you may have lost touch with and provide gentle reminders to reconnect. Your full iOS contact list is only read temporarily on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. Only contacts that you explicitly choose to sync will be added to Origamis. For those synced contacts, we store only their first name, last name, phone number, email address, and birthday (if available) — no other contact information is ever saved or read by us. Temporary contact data used during the sync process is deleted from your device once the sync is complete. Contact data is used solely for the app's reconnection feature and is never used to build a contact database or shared with third parties.
• Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, such as features used (including polls), onboarding behavior, and whether you've confirmed contacting your Ami of the Day. This data is collected through Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google. Firebase Analytics collects usage and behavior data to help us understand how users interact with the app. We do not use any other third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we do not serve ads or share your data with advertising networks.
• Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to improve app performance and troubleshoot issues. This information is collected automatically by Firebase Analytics.
• Leaderboard Information: If you choose to participate in the app's leaderboard, you will create an anonymous display name (2–10 characters). This name is visible to all leaderboard participants. You may opt in or opt out of the leaderboard at any time. We use a profanity filter to prevent inappropriate names, and any names that bypass the filter will be removed as soon as they are discovered. Your leaderboard name is not linked to your real name or any other personal information visible to other users.
• Payment Information: Origamis is currently free to use. We do not collect, store, or have access to any payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Help you reconnect and stay in touch with friends
• Improve and optimize the app experience
• Communicate with you about updates, support, and service-related notices

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use Google Firebase (provided by Google LLC) for authentication, data storage, and analytics. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement. Firebase may process data on servers located in the United States. For details, see Firebase's Privacy and Security documentation.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
• Safety: We may share information when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of our users, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance: Account creation, contact syncing, and core app features.
• Consent: Accessing your device contacts and optional leaderboard participation.
• Legitimate interest: Analytics to improve the app, security, and fraud prevention.

You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your device permissions or contacting us.

5. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed on servers in the United States through Google Firebase. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account (which you can do directly from the app's settings), we will delete your personal data — including synced contacts, leaderboard name, and usage history — within 24 hours. Your Sign in with Apple credentials will be revoked automatically. We may retain certain data where required for legal or regulatory purposes. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest through Firebase, to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Origamis is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
• Request a portable copy of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time (for data processed based on consent)
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell or share your data, but you may still make this request)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
