Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 3, 2026
Origamies LLC ("Origamies," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Origamies mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly and information generated through your use of the app:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.
- Contacts: With your explicit permission, we access your device's contact list to help identify friends you may have lost touch with and provide gentle reminders to reconnect. Your full iOS contact list is only read temporarily on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. Only contacts that you explicitly choose to sync will be added to Origamies. For those synced contacts, we store only their first name, last name, phone number, and birthday (if available) — no other contact information is ever saved or read by us. Temporary contact data used during the sync process is deleted from your device once the sync is complete.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the app, such as features used (including polls and the shop), onboarding behavior, and whether you've confirmed contacting your Ami of the Day.
- Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers to improve app performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Payment Information: Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment details.
- Shipping Information: If you purchase a physical item from the Origamies shop, we collect your shipping address solely to fulfill your order. Your address is never associated with your account, used to affect your experience in the app, or sold to third parties. Shipping addresses are automatically deleted 60 days after the order is placed. We will never send you anything by mail other than the specific item included in your purchase.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Help you reconnect and stay in touch with friends
- Improve and optimize the app experience
- Communicate with you about updates, support, and service-related notices
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Google Firebase for authentication and data storage. Firebase processes data on our behalf and is bound by its own privacy commitments. For details, see Firebase's Privacy and Security documentation.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Safety: We may share information when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of our users, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest through Firebase, to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
Origamies is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@origamies.app.
